Marnick Vandebroek is back to MC World Employer Branding Day 2019

We're pleased to announce Marnick Vandebroek will be back to host the International Employer Branding Summit as part of World Employer Branding Day 2019 in Lisbon on 16 May.

Check out the video below when Marnick rocked the stage and audience at World Employer Branding Day in Prague this year. Marnick is a hot young talent, but also a World Employer Branding Day veteran, having MC'd the 2017 and 2018 events, after delivering a keynote presentation in 2016 when working his corporate magic at Pepsico.

Marnick took time out before his presentation at HRCOMM's (World Employer Branding Day Partner) annual conference in Bratislava this week, to answer some rapid fire questions.

1. How would you describe your MC style?

Some call it business comedy and others just call it an energy bomb. I describe my style as entertaining, inclusive and an experience. An MC should be the familiar face for the audience, the one that keeps the attention and energy up during the whole day.

The MC should give each speaker a great introduction and a prepare a warm welcoming audience. For me,a business conference or seminar is no different than a show. People are there to learn and to network, but that is no reason why it should be boring or too serious. People like to have fun and absorb knowledge better in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. I want people to walk out of a conference, like they walk out of a rollercoaster. “What just happened, but when can we go again?” :)

2. What has been your favourite World Employer Branding Day experience?

Every new World Employer Branding Day. Each time I think, this can’t get any better, bigger or more energetic, but every time I feel that the conference just stepped up its game even more.

The first edition I thought, nice. The second one I thought, wow and this year the roof of the building came off. The audience was engaging with every speaker like they were rockstars. 3. What does World Employer Branding Day mean to you?

One of the few conferences I know where people are not just coming together for a conference, but have become a global community that works together during the year and looks forward to meeting up again during the 3 days to share best practices with each other and have a whole lot of fun.

Some of the biggest or most loyal clients I have, come from meeting them at World EB Day. 4. You have great experience working for companies such as Pepsico as well as agency experience and now running your own business. You’ve seen all sides of the coin. What’s the best piece of advice you could a company who wants to build a strong employer brand?

Chances are you already have a beautiful brand or a marketing department working on it every day. Have leadership, HR & marketing team up and leverage that brand to create the employer version. No need to reinvent the wheel or try to create a separate employer brand. Chances are leadership will see it as non-profitable activity and it doesn’t match the brand itself or flow through the entire organization. Click it all together and approval rates, budgets and results will increase. Like Brett Minchington would say, it’s not an HR function, it’s a business function...... and I’m not getting paid to say this ;) 5. Who is your favourite movie star and why?

Arnold Schwarzenegger. He might not be the best actor the world has seen, but he is the one that motivates me the most. He told the world he was going to become the best bodybuilder and did it. Then he said he was going to become an iconic actor, he did it. Then he said he was going to be a governor and did it. No matter how many people laughed or said it couldn’t be done with his accent, background,… He didn’t listen, he just did it and now the world knows, “I’ll be back and get to the chopper.” 6. What is your favourite Netflix series and why?

Casa de Papel. A low budget Spanish series that nobody had heard of when it was launched. No special effects or big movie stars, just a great story that Hollywood is no longer able to write & some amazing actors.

And I just love the Spanish language. 7. Who are the top 5 people you would like to invite to dinner?

Frank Sinatra, Barack Obama, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Indra Nooyi & my wife.....of course :) 8. If you had to give away $1 million in 1hr, how would you do it?

I would give it to the animal organizations with the highest need for resources. Animals can’t defend themselves and are only in trouble because of mankind.

The only way to fight it is with money. So if I can make a difference like that in an hour, I would do it. 9. What can leaders at World Employer Branding Day 2019 expect from MC Marnick?

Well, hopefully the launch of my first book, but I think you mean concerning the MC work :) They can expect a super excited MC that is grateful that he is part of this conference for the 4th time. An MC that is looking forward to take the audience in Lisbon on a journey through the best Employer Brand cases in the world and will make sure it is all done in the most engaging environment. Let’s rock that stage!

Check out how the people of Breda, Netherlands welcomed Marnick on a recent visit.

Marnick! We can't wait to welcome you to Lisbon in 2019.
